Howick Consultants attaches the greatest importance to the capabilities, skills, experience and qualifications of its staff. We provide support and encouragement to staff to improve their own, and consequently the company’s performance, and provide opportunity for personal development and training.
Our approach to recruitment, personal development and training recognises the need for diversity in the technical and professional skills of our people. We identify core competencies required to fulfil the technical and management roles we assign, and take steps to ensure they are attained.
We are committed to ensuring that development and training needs are identified and delivered effectively to the benefit of both individuals and the company, and that improved performance is achieved as a result. Our commitment to these principles is demonstrated by the following:

- We implement quality management procedures for the induction, appraisal, professional development and training of all people who work in the company
- We develop and implement personal training plans, based on an assessment of individual and company needs
- We maintain training records and monitor the effectiveness of training
- We encourage and support individual membership of recognised professional institutions
- We are approved by the Institution of Civil Engineers to provide training for all grades of membership. The company has its own approved training schemes, which cover the full requirements of the Institution
Qualifications and Training is controlled under the Quality Management System. Full details of the qualifications of all staff are maintained, training needs are monitored, implemented and recorded
