Surface Water Runoff
Stream and River Flow
Tidal and Wave Action
The following consultancy services are provided
FLOOD RISK ASSESSMENT
Undertaken in accordance with Appendix F of PPG25. They are tailored to site specific risks and to the scale of proposed development. Assessments are carried out for a number of purposes, including:
- Local Plans
- Outline Planning Permission
- Detailed Planning Permission
Assessments are usually undertaken in stages:
Initial Scoping Study
Our approach is to first assess the adequacy of existing reliable data that can be obtained and if possible complete the assessment using the data
Surveys, Investigations and Studies
If data is inadequate topographical surveys, investigations, detailed analysis and modelling may have to be undertaken. The extent and level of detail will be dictated by the flood risk and scale of the development.
Flood Risk Assessment
Assess the flood risk to the site and the risks that could result from the development of the site
Feasibility of Flood Alleviation Measures
If flood risks exist the feasibility and appropriateness of alleviation measures are assessed including:
- Appropriate development levels.
- Floodplain Storage Compensation.
- Flood and/or Coastal Defence Measures
- Channel Improvements
- SUDS solutions for surface water disposal including source and site control.
FLOOD STUDIES / PROJECT APPRAISALS
These are carried out for flood alleviation and coastal defence schemes for existing development. Normally promoted by the Environment Agency, Local Authorities or Drainage Boards, they are undertaken in accordance with DEFRA guidance and comprise the assessment of technical, environmental and economic feasibility.
In the past 25 years studies and project appraisals have been undertaken for a large number of flood alleviation schemes for communities of just 2 or 3 properties to small towns with values from less than £100K to over £4,000K.
